Laser Hair Removal

The long game. Permanent reduction, not temporary fixes.

Overview

Laser targets the pigment in your hair, zapping the follicle so it stops growing back. Think of it as a long-term investment in smooth skin—multiple sessions, lasting results.

Unlike waxing or shaving, laser hair removal works on the root. The laser light is absorbed by the melanin in your hair, heating up the follicle and damaging it enough to stop future growth. It's precise, effective, and built for permanence.

Most men see significant reduction after 6-8 sessions, spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Some areas respond faster than others—your genetics and hair color play a role. But once it's done, it's done.

Tailored Advice

Sensitive skin: You might see redness stick around a bit longer—sometimes 48 hours. If it's still bothering you after 24 hours, a dab of hydrocortisone cream helps. We'll use lower settings for your sessions.
Dry skin: Load up on moisturizer in the days leading up (but not on the day itself). Even, hydrated skin = better results. After, moisturize twice daily to help with any dryness from the treatment.
Oily skin: You're in luck—oily skin tends to handle laser well. Just keep it clean and avoid heavy products for 24 hours post-treatment.

The Process

1

Consultation

We'll assess your skin and hair type, discuss your goals, and set expectations. Not everyone is a candidate—very light hair or very dark skin may need different approaches.

2

Treatment

The laser is calibrated to your skin tone and hair color. You'll feel a quick zap—like a rubber band snap—as it targets each hair follicle. Most areas take 15-30 minutes.

3

Aftercare

I'll apply a cooling gel to soothe the skin. You'll get specific instructions for the next 24-48 hours. Most people can go right back to their day.

Before Your Session

Pre-Care Checklist

  • Shave the area 24 hours before. Clean, stubble-free skin works best. The laser needs to see the hair root, not the hair above the skin.
  • Come in with clean, product-free skin. No lotions, oils, or deodorant on the treatment area.
  • If you're treating your face, skip the retinoids for 3 days before.
  • No sun, no tanning beds, no self-tanner for two weeks prior. The laser needs to see your natural skin tone—tanned skin can get burned.
  • Don't wax or pluck. We need the hair root intact for the laser to do its job. Shaving is fine.
  • No antibiotics (especially doxycycline) for 2 weeks before—they can make your skin photosensitive.

After Your Session

Post-Care Timeline

First 24 Hours

Some redness and slight swelling is normal—your skin just got a workout. Skip the hot showers, stay out of the sun, and wear loose clothes. Let it breathe. Ice packs can help if there's any discomfort.

Day 2-7

Redness should be fading. You might notice the treated hair starting to fall out—that's the laser doing its thing. Don't pick or pull at it. Gentle exfoliation is okay starting day 3.

Week 2-4

Hair shedding continues. Some follicles may look like they're growing back, but they're actually pushing out the dead hair. This is normal. New growth will be finer and lighter.

Next Session

We'll schedule your next treatment 4-6 weeks out. Consistency is key—stick to the schedule for best results.

What to Avoid

  • No sun exposure for 2 weeks. If you must be outside, SPF 50+ is non-negotiable.
  • No hot showers, saunas, or intense workouts for 24 hours.
  • Don't pick at any bumps or scabs. Let the skin heal naturally.
  • Avoid retinoids, glycolic acid, and other active ingredients for 3-5 days post-treatment.
  • No waxing or plucking between sessions. Shaving is fine.

What I Recommend

Aloe Vera Gel

Cooling relief right after treatment. Keep it in the fridge for extra comfort. Apply as needed for the first 24 hours. Available at most drugstores.

SPF 50+ Sunscreen

Protect your investment. Treated skin is more sensitive to UV. Use daily, even if you're not in direct sun. Mineral-based is best for sensitive post-laser skin.

Kiehl's Crème de Corps

Rich body moisturizer good for maintaining hydration on larger treated areas. Use starting day 2-3, twice daily. Fragrance-free options available.

CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion

Fragrance-free, non-comedogenic. Ideal for post-laser care. Use twice daily starting day 2 to keep skin hydrated. Available at most drugstores.
