Care Guide

Aftercare

The right aftercare keeps skin calmer, smoother, and looking better for longer.

Tailored guidance for sugar waxing, grooming, laser hair removal, and spray tan.

Cleanse Smart, Not Harsh

After waxing, grooming, or laser treatments, your skin is more sensitive and prone to irritation. We recommend using a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser that removes sweat and bacteria without stripping your skin barrier.

Not all cleansers are created equal. Traditional soaps tend to have a higher pH, which can dry and irritate freshly treated skin. Fragrance-free cleansers are formulated closer to your skin’s natural pH, helping maintain hydration and reduce irritation.

For clients prone to ingrowns or breakouts, a salicylic acid cleanser can help keep pores clear and skin smooth between treatments.

Aftercare is part of the service

What you do after your appointment matters just as much as what happens in the chair. Skin type changes which products and routines work best. This page gives treatment-specific guidance plus product ideas to keep results looking sharp.

Start with your skin type

Pick the option that fits you best. We’ll show general aftercare guidance below.

Sugar waxing aftercare

Sugar waxing is gentler than traditional wax, but your skin still needs a calm recovery window to reduce irritation and prevent ingrowns.

First 24 hours

  • Avoid hot showers
  • Avoid gym, sweating, saunas, steam rooms
  • Avoid friction and tight clothing
  • Avoid heavy lotions, oils, and fragranced products on freshly treated skin

48 hours

  • Avoid tanning / direct sun exposure
  • Avoid pools and hot tubs if skin feels reactive
  • Do not pick at bumps

2–3 days later

  • Begin gentle exfoliation if skin is calm
  • Moisturize consistently
  • Focus on ingrown prevention

Do not exfoliate immediately after waxing. Wait until skin has calmed before introducing exfoliation.

Body grooming aftercare

Even when hair is trimmed rather than removed from the root, skin can still become irritated from friction, clipping, sweat, and regrowth.

Aftercare guidance

  • Keep area clean and dry
  • Avoid friction from tight underwear or clothing
  • Use gentle cleansing
  • Moisturize lightly if skin feels dry
  • Avoid over-applying oils to acne-prone body areas
  • Exfoliate lightly only if regrowth causes trapped hairs

Quick tips: Fresh grooming + sweat + friction = irritation. Breathable fabrics help. Do not aggressively scrub freshly groomed skin.

Laser aftercare

Laser hair removal can leave the skin warm, reactive, and temporarily more sensitive, so cooling and barrier-friendly care matter most.

First 24–48 hours

  • Avoid hot showers, saunas, steam, and workouts
  • Avoid sun exposure
  • Avoid scrubs, acids, retinoids, and active exfoliants
  • Avoid picking or rubbing treated skin
  • Use cool water and gentle products

Ongoing care

  • Protect treated skin from sun per your provider’s guidance
  • Moisturize with bland, fragrance-free products
  • Do not wax or tweeze between sessions
  • Shave only if instructed / appropriate for your treatment plan

Do not use strong acids, retinoids, or harsh exfoliants immediately after laser sessions unless your provider says it is appropriate. Use active products like salicylic acid only after the skin has fully calmed (typically 24–48 hours).

Spray tan aftercare

Spray tan aftercare is all about preserving the finish: less friction, less water exposure early on, and the right moisturizing routine afterward.

Immediate aftercare

  • Avoid water during the development window
  • Avoid sweating, gym, steam, and rain if possible
  • Wear loose, dark clothing
  • Avoid rubbing the skin

First rinse

  • Rinse as directed by your technician
  • Use lukewarm water
  • Avoid harsh soaps on first rinse unless instructed otherwise

Ongoing maintenance

  • Pat dry, don’t rub
  • Moisturize daily
  • Avoid long hot baths
  • Avoid aggressive exfoliation until ready for removal/fade
  • Hands, underarms, and friction zones may fade faster

Hydrated skin holds a spray tan better than dry, neglected skin.
